Many would say that dogs are like angels without wings but with fur. Have you ever looked at your dogs at home and think of how they make life brighter?
Of course, we do. Most of us believe that a dog is a man’s best friend – a loyal pet and an affectionate companion. Well, there is nothing more truthful than that; dogs are nothing but a ray of sunshine in our lives.
But, have you ever thought of dogs who go beyond their call of duty? Yes, that is right. Some dogs go the extra mile to save a life.
From being adorable and playful to being brave and heroic, these dogs made a difference. Here are the top incredible and astonishing stories of dogs saving a life.
War dogs are very precious in the military. They are highly trained and disciplined to be warriors. Military dogs help detect bombs, weapons, drugs and track threats.
Buster is the sniffer dog that went above and beyond his call of duty during his service in Iraq. During a house raid, he tracked down suicide vests primed for detonation.
It saved the lives of the military team and the civilian people. In 2012, he received the Friends for Life Award in honor of his heroic deeds and service.
He passed away in 2015 due to illness, and Buster’s human partner RAF Police Sergeant Will Barrow wrote a book entitled “Buster – The Military Dog Who Saved a Thousand Lives.”
The Stray Dog
A 7-year old boy found a stray dog below a 3-meter pit across the street on a snowy winter. As he tried to reach and pull under to save the dog, he slipped and fell into the hole, leaving him helpless along with the dog.
The boy was declared missing. Three days later, the boy was found inside the pit with the dog barking and howling exhaustively.
Rescuers captured the dog covering the boy to keep him warm in freezing weather. Right then, they believed that the dog saved the young boy from hypothermia.
Treo was an ex-military dog whose duties are watching out for threats, detecting mines, tracking weapons, and many more.
In his military service in Afghanistan, he saved thousands of civilian lives by sniffing out IEDs that could have led to widespread devastation.
Sergeant Dave was Treo’s human companion, also known as a dog whisperer. They both connect naturally at the deepest level. When Treo left the military service in 2009, he received the Dickin Medal.
It is the highest honor that a military animal can receive in the UK. Sergeant Dave adopted Treo after he retired. When Treo passed away in 2015, Sergeant Dave wrote a book entitled “It’s All About Treo – Life and War with the World’s Bravest Dog

A dog may have several roles to human beings, but its best title is always the “loyal companion.” No faith has never yet broken except that of a truly faithful dog, a creature so angelic that we humans don’t deserve.
